AUB alumni will be entitled to a progression discount of 20%. For more information, please refer to the MA discounts section. Please note this does not apply for MA Architecture.

All accepted students will be required to pay a non-refundable deposit of one term’s full tuition fees by 1st September. Please note this does not apply for MA Architecture.

MA students may be able to apply for a postgraduate loan through Student Finance England. Please see Student Finance – Postgraduate loan

MA Discount and Finacial Support

If you are a UK/EU undergraduate student at AUB, you might be eligible for the following discounts.

Progression Discount

  • All BA (Hons) alumni are eligible for a 20% discount on postgraduate fees (Please note this does not apply to MA Architecture).
  • PrepHE, Study Abroad and Exchange students are eligible for a 10% discount on postgraduate fees.
  • Summer Course students who spend in excess of £1,500 on at least one course are eligible for a 10% discount on a postgraduate course.

All applicants are required to pay a non-refundable deposit of one term’s full tuition fees by 1st September to be eligible for the discount.

Scholarship for Academic Achievement/Relevant workspace experience.

All applicants who hold a 2:1 degree or equivalent will be eligible for a Scholarship of 10% of the cost of the course.

Applicants from non-degree background, or applicants applying with relevant/equivalent work experience may be eligible for a Scholarship of 10% of the cost of the course.

All applicants are required to pay a non-refundable deposit of one term’s full tuition fees by 1st September to be eligible for the discount.

Alumni are not eligible for scholarships.



UK Government Postgraduate Loans Scheme

MA Funding

From 2016/17, the Government provide a loan for postgraduate MA study. The Postgraduate Loan (PGL) will be paid to the student as a contribution towards Tuition Fees, living costs and other course costs.

What you need to know:

  • Loans will be available up to a maximum value of £10,906 for 2019/20 and paid directly to the student in three equal instalments per academic year, up to a maximum of two years
  • The loan is available for students starting their course in the academic year 2016/17 or later (i.e. on or after 1st August 2016)
  • Loans will be available to UK and EU Nationals (and individuals with settled status in the UK)
  • Students under 60 will be eligible for MA loans
  • Loans are available all our MA programmes, excluding MArch: students studying full-time, part-time may be eligible
  • In order to qualify for a part-time MA loan you need to be studying at least 50% intensity of an equivalent full-time student in the first year of the course
  • Loans are non-means tested
  • Students who already hold an MA qualification (or an equivalent or higher level qualification) will not be eligible for PGL. This applies even if the previous qualification was entirely self-funded and/or achieved outside the UK
  • Lower level qualifications such as Postgraduate Diplomas or Postgraduate Certificates of Education will not affect eligibility for PGL
  • Repayments will be income-contingent and made concurrently with undergraduate loans. Rates will be set at 6% of annual income over £21,000
  • Interest will accrue at a rate of RPI + 3% on all outstanding balances

  • Student writing-up fee* – £855 (payable in 4 instalments)

Applicants will be asked to indicate how they propose to finance their studies.

*Please note that the fees are subject to confirmation from UAL (the awarding body) later in the year. The fees shown are from 2019/20.
*The writing-up fee is valid for 12 months. Writing-up is up to 12 months before submission. The writing-up fee is valid for this period (requirement to pay instalments ceases on submission of PhD)
